Raising Awareness for Organ Donation: A Community Effort

An awareness campaign for organ donations. Once again, the Organ Transplant Association Aitf of the province of Caserta (led by Franco Martino), very active also in Valle Caudina and Sannio, within the project 'Rights to the Point', sponsored by Csv Asso. Vo. Ce, (presided over by Elena Pera), together with the odv Emmep4ever, (presided by Giuseppe Rauso). The initiative materializes in an informative conference on the need to sensitize the citizenry to a better lifestyle, also through a more correct diet, for those people who suffer from notorious eating behavior disorders. This initiative, which does not only concern people who have undergone a transplant - Martino reports - even if the frequency with which cases of severe hepatic steatosis are beginning to seriously worry; through the hoped-for and strong echo it will have on the press, also aims at spreading a message of awareness about the well-known criticality recorded in our region, regarding the shortage of organ and tissue donors for life-saving transplants. Unfortunately, the law 'A Choice in Common' which allows citizens to express their will on consent or refusal to donate organs at the time of applying for or renewing their identity card is also little applied. It will be discussed on Friday at 4 pm at the Novotel, Caserta Sud (Ss 87 Sannitica, Km 22,600).
