Rebelle Café Chantant: A Modern Take on Classic Entertainment at Teatro Sannazaro

From Friday, April 5th to Sunday, April 21st, the Teatro Sannazaro hosts the Café Chantant Rebelle by and starring Lara Sansone with Lucio Pierri, Antonio Marino, Massimo Peluso, Mario Aterrano, Tony Guido, Mario Andrisani, along with the ballet and orchestra of the Café Chantant. The sets are by Francesca Mercurio and Michele Gigi, the music and orchestra direction by Ettore Gatta, costumes by Romeo Gigli and Mariano Ranno, choreography by Alessandro Di Napoli, lighting design by Luigi Della Monica, makeup and hair by Ciro Florio, accessories by Carmine Russo. A production by Tradizione e Turismo – Centro di produzione teatrale – Teatro Sannazaro. "Our show," Sansone declares, "is inspired by the historic Café Chantant of the early century and captures its soul, or as we would say today, its format. In the past, in venues set up with tables, evenings were spent in the spirit of lightness, political satire, music, beauty, charm, ostentation, and irony. These memorable shows have left an echo that endures in the memories of many lovers of the genre," she recounts. "From that idea of modernity, we have taken our cue, interpreting our project in an arbitrary and totally contemporary key. In our show, you will not find philology, nostalgia, or references to ancient glories but rather modernity, satire, fun, lightness, and music. The most loved and danced songs of all time, without a single unifying theme or perhaps with the sole purpose of putting a cast of professionals at the service of the audience. An ancient title for a very modern and contemporary show that enriches itself year after year with different and spectacular numbers suitable for an international audience," Sansone concluded.
