Renaming of the Palaveliero Sports Facility in Honor of Prof. Pasquale Campagna

The new name of the Palaveliero, the excellence sports facility owned by the Entity and managed by Flat Sport, will be officially announced on Monday, March 25th. It will be named "Palaveliero - Prof. Pasquale Campagna", in memory of the athlete, teacher, and master of sports, school, and life, who died on October 14, 2022. The dedication to Prof. Campagna is a choice shared by the administration and the community. Mayor Giorgio Zinno also received a petition from men and women involved in the city's sports field and the support of the already Parliamentarian, friend, and fellow citizen Hon. Bruno Cesario, as there is unanimous recognition of Prof. Campagna not only as a teacher for hundreds of San Giorgio boys but also as a professional athlete, especially in rugby. Campagna was a true point of reference also for many San Giorgio families, who found in him a complementary guide for the growth of their children. "A generous man, he also carried out various charitable activities, embodying the values of sport and solidarity - explains Mayor Zinno - teaching respect and courage, the ability to rejoice for victories but also to overcome defeats." The program for Monday includes: at 9:00 am the arrival of student delegations from the city's primary schools. At 9:30 am, Dogeball demonstrations and mini-tournaments will start; at 10:00 am, a demonstration of TAG Rugby with the technicians of the Rugby Federation and the I.C. D'Assisi of Torre del Greco. At 10:40 am, a demonstration of 3X3 Basketball by the secondary schools of the city. Finally, at 11:00 am, the plaque will be unveiled in the presence, among others, of Prof. Campagna's children, the Head of the School Office, Naples Territorial Area Dr. Luisa Franzese; the President of Coni Campania, Dr. Sergio Roncelli, and the President CF FIR Campania Giuseppe Calicchio. The former multi-awarded Olympic fencing champion, Dino Meglio, a friend of Prof. Campagna and the current technical commissioner of the Italian Paralympic National team, will also be present. "We pay homage to a professional who has marked the lives of many young people with his commitment, love, and dedication precisely in the healthy growth of so many generations of San Giorgio," concludes the Mayor.
