The artifacts from the Temple of Isis in Benevento, loaned to the Colosseum Archaeological Park in Rome for the exhibition «The Beloved of Isis. Nero, the Domus Aurea and Egypt» from June 22, 2023 to last January, have returned to the Egyptian section of the Arcos Museum. This was announced by the president of the Province of Benevento, Nino Lombardi, who, with the consent of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, had authorized the transfer of the artifacts.
With a special transport from the capital, welcomed by the head of the Museum Network of the Province Alfonso Pacilio, they arrived this morning on Stefano Borgia street: Statue of Domitian as Pharaoh, Diorite, end of 1st century AD; Isis Pelagia on ship, Late Hellenistic Age-1st century BC; Lion statue, late 2nd century AD-early 3rd century AD.
President Lombardi, remembering the great public success that the exhibition at the Domus Aurea recorded, highlighted how the loan of the precious artifacts from the Isis temple in Benevento has proved to be a strong promotion for the archaeological heritage kept by the province of Benevento in the Sannio Museum and in the Egyptian Section.
