Revitalization Works Kick Off at the Entrance of the Medieval Village of Casertavecchia

The revitalization works of the entire area in front of the entrance to the medieval village of Casertavecchia have been awarded. In the coming weeks, the construction site will start, with the implementation of some interventions aimed at changing the face of the access gate to the village. The project, worth about one million euros, falls within the scope of the resources of the PNRR (Chapter 'Urban Regeneration') and includes works of considerable importance. Firstly, Largo San Rocco will be completely redesigned, that is, the area at the foot of the pine forest, where there will be a comprehensive reorganization of traffic flows, with the provision of parking and entrances for the bus terminal created by Air Campania. In addition, a traffic island (where Mediterranean cypresses and lavender plants will be placed) will be created to protect the Church of San Rocco, as well as a rest and refreshment point for visitors. Important works will be those that involve the resurfacing of Largo San Rocco, using white Sannio paving stones, and the placement of urban furniture elements. Furthermore, the lighting system will be modernized, using energy-saving LED lamps. Another intervention will see the construction of a roundabout at the intersection between Via Rossetti and the entrance to the panoramic view and, finally, at the foot of the pine forest, a backlit corten steel plate will be placed, on which will be reported the text of the decree of the President of the Republic that in 1960 declared the medieval village of Casertavecchia a 'National Monument'. Meanwhile, as far as the hillside areas are concerned, the Council has approved the feasibility project for the safety works of the rural road of Via Casola, which connects Casertavecchia to Valle di Maddaloni and the entire Isclero Valley, within the framework of the Regional Call SRD07 - Investments in infrastructure for agriculture and socio-economic development of rural areas. The goal is to secure the rural road surface through shaping the sub-base, laying a new wear layer, and installing a lighting system. The new road connection for Valle di Maddaloni is of particular attention as it hosts several agricultural companies.
