Salerno's Mercatello Park Reopens After Extensive Renovation

The Mercatello Park in Salerno was reopened this morning: the renovation, modernization, and extraordinary maintenance works were funded for a total amount of five million euros by the Campania Region and carried out by the Municipality of Salerno. "We have been waiting for this day," said Mayor Vincenzo Napoli, "We return to the city the Mercatello park which is a splendid work. We have had significant funding from the Campania Region, which allocated over five million euros for the restoration and redevelopment of the structure. The Minerva Garden will also reopen shortly, which has also been redeveloped and expanded. We also consider the beach nourishment that is taking place at sea, to make the city more and more livable and beautiful." The "new" Mercatello Park alternates lawns with rose gardens, avenues but also reserves space for a children's playroom, an area for shows and events, and a fitness area. "After thirty years, extraordinary maintenance work was necessary. Here we have the fortune of having a president of the Region who is from Salerno. There is Santo Vincenzo. And so we have allocated four and a half million resources to this intervention": so the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, said on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Park.
