Salvatore Cantone High School Wins First 'High Schools in the Pool' Water Polo Tournament

The Salvatore Cantone Scientific and Human Sciences High School of Pomigliano d'Arco is the winner of the first edition of 'High Schools in the Pool', a water polo tournament organized by the Campania Swimming Federation, reserved for the high schools of Naples in the Scandone pool. In the final, played in front of a large audience, the Cantone boys defeated Mercalli with a score of 11-9. Previously, in the match for third and fourth place, the Nitti Institute had prevailed over the Imbriani High School. The Caccioppoli High School was ranked fifth, followed by the Bernini-De Santis Institute in sixth place. The students from the six Neapolitan schools faced each other over a total of four days. The final awards were presented by the Sports Councilor of the City of Naples, Emanuela Ferrante, by the president of the Campania committee of the Swimming Federation, Paolo Trapanese, by the delegate of the Coni Naples, Agostino Felsani, by the regional coordinator of physical education and sports of the Regional School Office of Campania, Raimondo Bottiglieri, by the technical director of Scandone, Luca Piscopo, by the Fin delegate, creator and organizer of the tournament, Sergio d'Abundo, and by Annunziata Buggio, representative of Link University who, together with B-Personal, sponsored the event. Special awards went to Kevin Guadagni, judged the best player of the tournament and awarded by Christian Presciutti, coach of the national youth water polo team; to Guido Di Prisco, judged the best player among students lent to water polo, awarded by Mino Cacace, and to the cheerleading group of Mercalli. Massimo Gomez, Mattia Gomez, referee of the final, Nadia Nigrelli, Sergio d'Abundo, and Paolo Trapanese received the Salvatore Nigrelli Association award.
