Sannio Prepares for Giro d'Italia with Road Maintenance Upgrades

"Giro d'Italia", Sannio is getting ready for the international television spotlight by improving the road conditions. The Province has awarded a tender for approximately one million euros worth of work for two extraordinary maintenance interventions in the Titerno-Tammaro area, involved in the stage of May 14th of the event, the Pompei-Cusano Mutri (Bocca della Selva). The works, amounting to 899,566 and 40,777 euros respectively, concern about 250,000 euros in total for the safety of the sections actually traveled by the cyclists during the race, while the rest of the funding is aimed at securing and restoring occasional points of the road plan of the arteries of the provincial network pertaining to the main direction crossed by the Caravan. Also contracted, on the provincial roads 77, 78, and 83 other works for the restoration of the road plan. Finally, a tender for works (expected expense 500,000 euros) for the provincial road 54, pertaining to the main road crossed by the Giro d'Italia Caravan, for the stage of May 15th starting from Foiano. "The funding for all these interventions - explains the president of the Province, Nino Lombardi - comes from various sources, including the use of administrative surplus from the entity's budget, demonstrating the attention and commitment made to ensure, as far as possible, safety in the travel of the provincial road network."
