Valentino Bridge, the carabinieri seized the drying plant and 14 roll-off containers containing dried and to-be-dried sludge from Sanav, a waste treatment company operating in the Asi area, in the afternoon. The operation took place as part of an investigation coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office of Benevento. The seizure follows the inspection of places and things carried out on February 13th by the carabinieri of the Benevento Company. The measure originated from the non-compliance with the prescriptions indicated in the waste management authorization.
The activities carried out by the soldiers of the Operational and Radiomobile Nucleus of Benevento, with the help of the Arpac and a technical consultant appointed by the Prosecutor's Office, focused in particular on the sludge drying plant resulting from the treatment of special liquid waste (dangerous and non-dangerous), operating inside a shed. The inspection revealed the presence in the plant of different types of sludge without traceability, as well as the mixing of some of them without any analytical evidence that could highlight the similarity of their nature and a likely illegal mixing and management of waste.
The entire area with the present containers was therefore subjected to preventive seizure of emergency by the Carabinieri. The Prosecutor's Office asked the judge for preliminary investigations for the validation of the emergency seizure and the issuance of a preventive seizure decree, which happened today.
