Seizure of 150 Tons of Restricted Refrigerant Gas in Naples

Approximately 150 tons of refrigerant gas of the hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) type subject to restrictions were seized by officials from the Customs and Monopolies Agency serving at the Customs Office of Naples 1, as part of controls aimed at protecting public health. During the verification operations, labels indicating a military use destination were found and, therefore, exempt from the quotas assigned by the European Commission to producers and importers. Further and more in-depth findings also carried out on imports of the same product in previous years, allowed to ascertain that the use destinations declared by the importing company, and in particular those of a military nature, concerned only a residual part of the entire imported cargo. The violators have been referred to the judicial authorities.
