The tourist landing of Lacco Ameno has been for years at the center of a complex judicial affair that sees on one side the smallest of the island municipalities and on the other the private management company of the marina. From initial information, the cause of the seizure could have been the illegal occupation of state-owned land. This morning's seizure was ordered by the Deputy Prosecutor of Naples, Giulio Vanacore.
"At this moment, the documents in which I am named as the judicial custodian of the areas are being notified to me, the seizure of the tourist port has been ordered due to an occupation sine titulo," said the mayor of Lacco Ameno, Giacomo Pascale, a few minutes after the seizure. The mayor then explained that "there is an ongoing dispute between the municipal administration and the sub-concessionaire (Marina di Capitello Scarl) of the tourist port of Lacco Ameno, which with the project financing formula set in 2017 had committed to pay a fee and to carry out works on the tourist port. The fee has never been paid and the works have been carried out to a minimal extent, therefore I believe that the magistrate rightly determined that an occupation sine titulo occurred, entrusting the mayor with the judicial management."
Now the most urgent issue is the unseizure of the tourist port of Lacco Ameno. "Now we need to think about the unseizure options in favor of the Municipality to not lose the summer tourist season," added Mayor Pascale, "it is known that the flow of tourists to the island starts soon, but the yachtsman wants to know about the berth for their boat already in January. The landing at Lacco Ameno is quite sought after, as the representative of the local entity that is making investments in the area, I hope for collaboration from the Naples Prosecutor's Office and from the Port Authority to not lose the summer tourist season in Lacco Ameno."
