Serial Bike Thief Arrested in Sorrento

He used to reach Sorrento by taking the Circumvesuviana trains and once in the city, he would steal the pedal-assisted bicycles parked on the streets and in the outdoor spaces of residential homes. For this reason, on March 25th of last year, he had already been subjected to the obligation of reporting to the judicial police after being caught in the act. Now, the man, a resident of Sant'Antimo, has seen his situation worsen. The Carabinieri of the Sorrento company have in fact executed a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the GIP of the Torre Annunziata court upon request of the Oplontina Prosecutor's Office, against him. The charge is aggravated theft for two incidents that always occurred in Sorrento on February 9 and March 2, 2023. The investigations by the military of the Arma have ascertained that the suspect, after arriving in Sorrento with the Eav line trains, had stolen two bikes by first entering a private home and the second by taking the two-wheeled vehicle parked on the public street. The investigation by the Carabinieri was aided by videos extracted from private video surveillance systems located in the areas where the two thefts occurred. The comparison of images depicting the man with the photos taken after the arrest in flagrante delicto on March 25, 2023, has confirmed that it was the same person. Thus, after the usual formalities, the arrested was transferred to the Poggioreale prison in Naples.
