A 20-year-old man with no previous criminal record, a grocer who has been in Italy for years but is originally from Bangladesh and owns a market in San Gennaro Vesuviano, in the province of Naples, has been placed under house arrest.
The 20-year-old is accused of resisting a public official and personal injury. The investigators reconstructed that a report of a dispute in a small market on Via Roma had arrived at 112.
When the owner of the business saw the soldiers enter the shop, without any apparent reason but evidently agitated, he would have pulled out a knife and struck one of the soldiers on the hand. The man was subdued and arrested, and is now under house arrest, awaiting trial. The injured carabiniere was given a prognosis of 7 days. The reasons for the reaction are still unknown.
