Avellino's Maurizio De Simone, a sports manager, ends up in handcuffs again. He was arrested in Pistoia by the Financial Police.
De Simone, the resigning guarantor of the orange trust (effectively the patron of the Tuscan city's football club) is accused of being involved in a major fraud against the European Union on the PNRR.
The Prosecutor's Office of Pistoia accuses him of bankruptcy crimes and false invoicing. For the historic club, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2021, bankruptcy now seems imminent.
The Financial Police conducted a raid in the morning at the headquarters of Us Pistoiese on Stadio Street. In the past, De Simone has been involved in other legal matters, some of which also concerned the world of football.
