Sold out and standing ovation at the Teatro Bellini for the Fabrizio De Andrè Symphonic Concert. Two hours of sung poetry and stories narrated by Leonardo De Stasio and masterfully performed music by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Benevento conducted by Letizia Vennarini.
The audience was enchanted by the project designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the great lyricist's death, realized in collaboration with the arranger Alessandro Verrillo. On some songs, the voice of Di Stasio meets that of Chiara Spedicato.
It was not easy to draw from the immense songbook of Faber but the concert managed to propose a wonderful journey composed of 22 songs and an encore that included the most popular ballads that Leonardo De Stasio interpreted with great respect, alternating the songs with stories of Fabrizio De Andrè's life, honored, in his immense love for Naples, with «Don Raffaè».
Describing the project, De Stasio said: «We set out to evoke the emotions, suggestions, reflections that Faber has been able to give us, trying to make our personal contribution, respectful of his repertoire. De Andrè taught us that 'songs, once written, should not be too explained, but lived', and we have a great desire to relive them and evoke a world of timeless emotions, together with the audience who will want to come and listen to us».
The audience with its final standing ovation showed that the goal was achieved.
The extraordinary journey began with the song «Turn the page», followed by «Crêuza de mä», «Carlo Martello», «La canzone di Marinella», «Bocca Di Rosa», «Via Del Campo», «Il Testamento di Tito», «La città vecchia», «Love that comes, love that goes».
For «A judge» the audience's hands accompanied the orchestra, composed of 35 elements in 70's clothes, from the first to the last note. And, again, «La guerra di Piero», «Andrea», «Hotel Supramonte», «Geordie», «The ballad of blind love», «Sally», «The Bombarolo», «They will come to ask you about our love», «Ocean», «Don Raffaè», «The song of lost love», «Dolcenera». Encore with «The Fisherman».
Fabrizio De Andrè Symphonic Concert, after Naples, heads towards Campobasso for a sold-out show at the Teatro Savoia (February 11). The spring-summer 2024 tour is under construction.
