This morning, the Carabinieri of the Naples center reported a 28-year-old taxi driver with no previous record for theft and receiving stolen goods.
A tourist - a 26-year-old Swede here in Naples for a few days of leisure - reported the theft of his backpack. The victim, however, remembered leaving it in a taxi even though the driver, when contacted, insisted that there was nothing in the vehicle.
The investigations of the Spanish Quarters Carabinieri station allowed to ascertain the facts. The military began searching the web for the tourist's personal belongings. The goods - we are talking about a camera and its lens, with a memory card inside, among other things, several photos taken during the Neapolitan holiday - had been put up for sale a few hours ago. The Carabinieri simulated a purchase, agreeing with the young man for the meeting and delivery.
At the meeting, however, the taxi driver found the Carabinieri who reported the 28-year-old and returned the stolen goods to the tourist, who will thus be able to spend his days in one of the most beautiful cities in the world with greater peace of mind.
