Teenager from Naples Charged for Fake Accident Scam

The Mobile Squad of Padua has charged a 15-year-old from Naples for the fake accident scam, stopping him outside the home of an elderly woman, the mother of a policewoman who, being at home, called her colleagues asking for their intervention. With this latest case, there are 16 scammers reported by the Euganean police in the last year, while another 8 scammers were arrested red-handed, all for identical scams, recovering 50,000 euros in cash and gold worth 68,000 euros taken from the victims. In the latest case, the officers took action after a colleague had reported that her mother, 70 years old, had just been called by a person claiming to be a carabiniere trying to convince her that her son had been arrested for causing a road accident and that it was necessary to pay 4,500 euros to avoid arrest. The policewoman, who was next to her mother when the young man had phoned, therefore waited for the arrival of a patrol car which stopped the 15-year-old who was waiting to collect the requested money. Taken to the Police Headquarters, the young man, by order of the Prosecutor's Office for minors in Venice, was entrusted to his father who arrived in Padua from Naples.
