Tensions today in Naples, at Mergellina, during the initiative promoted by the deputy of the Green Left Alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli who this morning laid a wreath in memory of Francesco Pio Maimone, the young pizza maker killed by mistake by a gunshot following a quarrel over a pair of sneakers, to which he was completely unrelated. During the initiative outside the chalet Agostino, the place where the murder occurred, according to Borrelli, «some relatives of the key witness, who was working at the chalet that evening and has retracted his version in Court being indicted by the judge for reticence, approached the deputy insulting him heavily and threatening him with death».
«In the face of the arrogance and violence of the Camorra, one must not turn away but must stand on the right side. That's why we came to Mergellina to lay flowers and to ask for justice for Francesco Pio Maimone, right in the place where he was killed - explains Borrelli - We did it the day after the cowardly retraction of the key testimony that could nail the murderer by a worker of the chalet Agostino who witnessed the tragedy and who was thus indicted by the judge. On one hand, strong signals are needed against those who are complicit and protect the Camorristi, on the other hand, we must make the proximity of the institutions and the city to the family of Francesco Pio Maimone felt».
Borrelli's Denunciation
«In Mergellina, there has been a system of widespread illegality for years that constitutes fertile ground for serious crimes - Borrelli added - and the chalet Agostino itself is a glaring proof: a structure welded to the railing of the promenade with probably abusive occupations of planters, loud music until morning with frequent attendance, as admitted even today by the relatives of the witness, by criminals. These places must be closed, as happened for the venue in Piazza Municipio outside of which Giovanbattista Cutolo was killed».
