Terrifying Incident in Montella: Gunpoint Threat over Unpaid Beer Leads to Arrest

A terrifying sequence that, fortunately, did not have more serious consequences. It all happened in Montella. A 27-year-old man with a criminal record, already known to the local carabinieri, entered a bar, ordered and consumed a beer, and to avoid paying, threatened the bartender with a gun. He was arrested and taken to jail. The whole scene was captured by the bar's surveillance system: from the external camera, in fact, you can see the young man preparing the gun, inserting the magazine, and placing it in his trousers' belt; from the internal camera, on the other hand, you can clearly see the criminal asking for the beer and, when asked for payment, brandishing the gun, racking the slide, scaring the bartender who takes refuge in the storage room, and then fleeing. The immediate request for intervention was made to the Carabinieri of Montella who promptly implemented a consolidated operation, cordoning off the area with three teams already engaged in services aimed at controlling the territory. One of these, the Aliquota Radiomobile, stopped the 27-year-old a few hundred meters from the bar and subjected him to a search, seizing about thirty rounds of ammunition and a multi-purpose knife. Thanks to the support of the Carabinieri from the Stations of Nusco and Castelfranci, moreover, in a nearby garden, the weapon used to threaten the bartender was found, a blank firing pistol with a modified barrel suitable for firing the bullets found. The young man's crazy evening did not end there. Annoyed by the arrest order, he began to threaten, offend, and assault the soldiers, causing injuries to one of them judged to be healable in 7 days. Deemed responsible for the crimes of robbery, receiving stolen goods, possession of an illegal weapon, insult, resistance, threat, and violence to a public official, the young man was taken to the Bellizzi prison, at the disposal of the magistrates of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Avellino, directed by the Chief Prosecutor Domenico Airoma.
