The 2024 Debate on AI, Regional Autonomy, and the Vision for a United States of Europe

It's 2024, and there's talk of artificial intelligence, its impacts on work relationships, and how there must be a united front at the European level to protect democracy through the United States of Europe. There's a national debate on the effects of the differentiated autonomy proposed by Minister Calderoli on the South and on the more fragile territories. And in all this, the mayor of Benevento, Clemente Mastella, seems to have remained in the '70s. Supporting this is Stefano Orlacchio of the young Democrats of Sannio. "The mayor," he continues, "imagines (again) the famous Molisannio, this imaginary entity he pulls out of the hat at every electoral deadline, aware himself of the initiative's infallibility and, above all, its uselessness from the mere economic-political return for our province. The proposal comes at a historical moment in which the Campania Region enjoys a protagonism it has not seen for years, leading the movement in opposition to differentiated autonomy at the national level, and in conjunction with the birth of committees in Molise to request re-annexation with Abruzzo, not with Sannio. "To face the secessionist emergency of the richer territories," highlights Orlacchio, "it is necessary for politics to activate its best forces to propose investments in infrastructure, to bridge the physical distances with the other provincial capitals and with the inner areas of our Region; to envision an innovative agriculture that is efficient; a tourism system that can welcome people and valorize our cultural riches; an industrial development network aimed at sustainability and a green future. In short," he concludes, "we need enlightened politics, that places at the center of its agenda the last, those in difficulty, the young and the women of our province, that talks about novelty and that does not continuously rewind on old proposals devoid of any added value for everyone."
