The 2024 Elsa Morante Prize Edition Kicks Off, Celebrating 50 Years of 'La Storia'

The 2024 edition of the Elsa Morante Prize is underway, this year ideally dedicated to 'La Storia', the Morante novel that marks 50 years since its publication. The jury of the prestigious Prize, chaired by Dacia Maraini and composed of: Marco Cerbo, Enzo Colimoro, Lino Guanciale, David Morante, Tiuna Notarbartolo, Antonio Parlati, Fiorenza Sarzanini, Teresa Triscari, has unanimously decreed the three winning books of the sections of the Elsa Morante Boys and Girls Prize, which will be read by thousands of young readers in Italy and around the world who make up the Morante network. The winners are 'Mr. Shell' (we will never again leave the lives of children to the sea and the night) (Salani) by Gianluca Caporaso, which wins the 'Elsa Morante Boys and Girls Prize - prose and poetry', 'History of the World, from the Big Bang to Today' (La Nave di Teseo) by Giordano Bruno Guerri, which wins the 'Elsa Morante Boys and Girls Prize - History' and 'Love harder, Iranian girls walk ahead of us' (Solferino) by Barbara Stefanelli, which wins the 'Elsa Morante Boys and Girls Prize - for Social Issues'. About ten thousand young people from all over the world (among others from Albania, France, the United States, Russia, etc.) will be able to read them and choose their favorite book, which will win the additional Elsa Morante Schools Prize. For Italian and foreign reading groups, it is still possible to sign up to be part of this jury until the end of March, by sending an email to associazionepremioelsamorante@gmail.com. A thousand young people will attend the final event live on May 15th at the Rai Auditorium in Naples. For all others, it will be possible to follow the live broadcasts on the Elsa Morante Prize and Rai's Facebook and Instagram channels. The Elsa Morante Prize 2024 will be hosted by Alessandro Incerto and Tiuna Notarbartolo.
