The 32nd Stage of the #BeWiseDriveSafe Roadshow at the Volturno International Circuit in Limatola

The Volturno International Circuit in Limatola was the stage for the 32nd stop of the #BeWiseDriveSafe roadshow, now in its 10th edition, promoted by the Campania Region and implemented by ANCI Campania in collaboration with the Meridiani Association, featuring the participation of staff from the University of Naples Federico II, Law Enforcement, Anas, the Order of Engineers of the province of Naples, and various organizations and foundations, with media partnerships from Rai Campania, Rai Public Utility, and Rai Isoradio. Over 200 students from the Limatola and Phlegraean areas were welcomed by Nunzio Illuminato, patron of the Volturno International Circuit, Domenico Parisi, Mayor of Limatola, Roberto Schiavone from Favignana, President of Universo Humanitas, and Giuseppe Casillo, President of Il Tarì Design School. The sessions were led by Antonella Scarano, Consultant for the Meridiani Association - School Project Coordinator 'Be Wise, Drive Safe' UniNA, Alfonso Montella, Professor of Road Safety at the University of Naples Federico II and President of the Technical Scientific Committee of the 'Be Wise, Drive Safe' project, Gianfranco Coppola, President of the Italian Sports Press Union, and Giovanni De Luca, representing the National Firefighters Association. Leopoldo Iovino, father of Eugenio who died at just 19 years old after his motorcycle collided with a streetlight in Gragnano, shared his testimony. The session was coordinated by Ada Minieri, Vice President of the Meridiani Association and Secretary of the Order of Engineers Naples. The session opened with a minute of silence in memory of two Carabinieri who died on the state road 91 between Eboli and Campagna due to a road accident. At the conclusion of the theoretical lesson, the students reached the track of the Volturno International Circuit where they were greeted by the 'Safe Driving - asd' team of Marco Mongelluzzi, the first driving school for road safety in Campania, who not only performed but also engaged the students with practical driving safety tests using a skid car and emergency braking with obstacle avoidance. Attendees also admired the performances of sports cars from the Abarth Club Campania and Lamborghini. The Team Chiodo Moto's performances, featuring Paolo Grassia, ninja 400 trophy rider, Luigi Montella, 600 super sport class rider, Salvatore Germano and Alfonso Coppola, 300 super sport class riders, were thrilling. The goal is to educate young people on responsible and correct behavior for safe driving, involving municipal administrations according to a priority based on the accident rate recorded on the roads under their jurisdiction. In its 10th edition, the project has so far reached over 37,000 students from primary and secondary schools in the Campania region and from universities in Campania. We remind that the closing event of the tenth edition will be held on May 9, 2024, with the award ceremony of the 'Invent a solution for road safety' ideas competition in Piazza Municipio, where the Road Safety Village will be set up, with the contribution of the organizations, foundations, and associations collaborating on the project, hosting testimonials from the television, entertainment, and sports world, curated by CONI Campania, which has been supporting the project for years.
