The Fifth Edition of the 'Solidarity Mussel Soup' Initiative

Everything is ready for the fifth edition of the 'Solidarity Mussel Soup', a charity initiative promoted by Caan in synergy with the Welfare and Productive Activities Departments of the Municipality of Naples. For the third consecutive year, it will take place today at the First Reception Center in via De Blasiis. Here, about a hundred homeless people and those living in socio-economic hardship, guests of the municipal reception facility, will be able to celebrate Holy Thursday thanks to the generosity of the operators of the Fish Market at the Volla agri-food center who, on the occasion of Easter, donate tons of fresh products for the preparation of the traditional Neapolitan mussel soup. 'This event, now a fixed appointment every year, today, as Istat reveals that one in ten Italian families is below the poverty line, has an even more important symbolic value,' explains the Welfare Councilor Luca Fella Trapanese. 'Our will is to confirm every day our commitment so that the resources and projects implemented can curb this widespread phenomenon, common to all large cities.' 'It is not the first time that Caan has accompanied us in this type of initiatives,' emphasizes the Councilor for Productive Activities Teresa Armato. 'And it does so by confirming itself not only as an excellence in the agri-food sector but also in showing closeness and solidarity to those people who live in conditions of greater hardship and vulnerability in our city.' 'We are very proud,' states Caan president Carmine Giordano, 'to replicate, once again, this project. Holy Thursday, for our fish market, is absolutely the day of maximum influx of buyers. Nevertheless, our operators never back down from the opportunity to do charity, and for this, I will never stop thanking them.' In addition to the fundamental generosity of the fish wholesalers, the initiative is supported by the logistical support and collaboration of the Napoli Libera Cooperative, as well as the Professional Institute for Catering 'Antonio Esposito Ferraioli' of Naples, whose teachers and students will take care of both the preparation of the dishes and the table service.
