The Role of Auditors in Enhancing Transparency and Advisory in Financial Statements

The focus on the financial statement and the role of the auditor has enabled an in-depth theoretical and practical examination of the issues, with particular reference to the role played by chartered accountants as auditors. As highlighted by the speakers, in fact, in addition to the traditional control function, the auditor plays an important role as a propositional and advisory body, supporting local territorial entities in the drafting of increasingly transparent and informative budgets. The accountant is often called upon to perform the function of 'technical councilor' and sometimes even as the manager of the economic-financial area. This was stated by Francesco Matacena, president of the Order of Chartered Accountants during the forum on 'Financial Reporting 2023', promoted at the headquarters in Aversa. With the focus on 'Financial Reporting' - emphasized Daniela Caianiello, head of the financial service of the Municipality of Pozzuoli -, we are concentrating on the Covid funds assigned to municipal administrations in 2020, 2021, and 2022. It will be essential to verify if the entities will have to return these economic resources. For next year, we are waiting for Europe's indications on the stability pact, which will guide the decisions of local entities.
