The Royal Cardiology Days of Sports: Training and Studying the Heart 2024

The Sakura Hotel in Torre del Greco hosted the event “The Royal Cardiology Days of Sports: Training and Studying the Heart 2024”. The initiative, focused on the prevention of sudden cardiac death in athletes, represented a crucial moment in the panorama of sports medicine and cardiology. The conference, moderated by journalist Adriano Pastore, saw the participation of a scientific board composed of Antonio Russo, scientific head of the congress and cardiology consultant for Ssc Napoli, Raffaele Canonico and Gennaro De Luca, respectively the health manager and social doctor for Ssc Napoli. The day offered a training opportunity for sports physicians, cardiologists, and other health professionals involved in cardiology and sports medicine, in addition to promoting the exchange between experts in the field and the national leaders of significant scientific societies such as Sic Sport, Ance, and SIT. The event program developed into two morning sessions and two afternoon sessions, characterized by keynote lectures and a round table on telemedicine. The topics covered were extremely varied, ranging from arrhythmology to cardiovascular imaging, from primary and secondary prevention to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, with particular attention to emerging cardiovascular risk factors. Among the distinguished speakers present in the faculty were professors Antonio Giordano, Giuseppe Limongelli, and Paolo Calabrò. Barbara Morgillo, representative of the Health Department of the Campania Region, also participated. The event concluded with a round table open to the press and the public, titled "Prevention and resuscitation aimed at the population", which sparked a lively debate and interest in the theoretical-practical lesson of doctors Silvio Magliano and Vincenzo Scala. The cardiologist Emilio Parrella served as the honorary president of the conference, lending further prestige to the event. Attention to social issues was also not neglected, through the "Dream Desk", the non-profit organization chaired by Fiorangela Giugliano, which aims to fulfill the wishes of oncology patients.
