At the Sannazaro Theatre, the play «Lay Your Hand On It» by Maurizio De Giovanni starring Antonio Milo, Adriano Falivene and Elisabetta Mirra under the direction of Alessandro D’Alatri is being staged. A production by Diana Or.I.S. The show will be on stage from Friday 16th to Sunday 25th February.
Spring of 1943, Naples. A late sunny morning is torn apart by sirens: allied planes are coming and the danger of a new and devastating bombing is imminent.
The scene is a basement serving as an improvised shelter. In a corner of the room is a statue of the Immaculate Madonna, miraculously escaped from the destruction of a church.
It is here that a strange company finds itself, brought together by the need for shelter: Bambinella, a transvestite who survives by practicing prostitution and who knows everything about everyone, and Sergeant Raffaele Maione, who has just arrested Melina, a twenty-year-old who has just slit the throat of the Marquis of Roccafusca, for whom the girl was a maid.
While outside the door the voices of the people turn into a fearful silence and then the progressive approach of the roar of the bombs, the dialogue between the three occupants of the shelter becomes increasingly deep and tight, with a series of reflections on life, death, justice, faith, but also hunger and the arrogance of power.
As we learn what really happened in the Roccafusca palace and why, Bambinella will turn into a defense lawyer and Maione into the prosecution of a trial that will see in the plaster statue a silent but passionate judge.
