Healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical industries, general managers: all are called to report for the third edition of the 'Open Meeting of Major Hospitals', the two-day event that addresses the most current challenges of the sector. The appointment, presented today (February 20) at the Ministry of Health, is scheduled in Naples for May 28 and 29, 2024, at the Cardarelli and Federico II Polyclinic.
The open meeting - now in its third edition after those of Florence and Rome - was introduced by the greetings of the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, and those of the President Fiaso, Giovanni Migliore.
'In this moment of radical transformation of health - says the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci - it is stimulating to know that in our hospitals ideas and projects are being carried forward to identify the best solutions to strengthen the system's ability to respond effectively and sustainably to the needs of citizens, deepening current issues and consistent with the process of reforming the national health service that we are implementing'.
A round table followed, aimed at illustrating the results collected in the past and future prospects, in which took part Antonio D'Amore (general manager, Aorn A. Cardarelli, Naples; vice president Fiaso), Daniela Donetti (general manager, hospital-university company Sant'Andrea, Rome), Giuseppe Longo (general manager, Aou Federico II, Naples), Paolo Petralia (general manager, Asl 4 Liguria; vice president Fiaso) and Giuseppe Quintavalle (general manager, Ptv Polyclinic Tor Vergata Foundation, Rome).
'Today health - Petralia explained - faces new and complex challenges. From digitalization processes, ranging from dematerialization of documents to the use of artificial intelligence, to the need for major hospitals to remain such, that is, centers of excellence. This means being able to progress in research against the most complex diseases, such as rare ones, and towards new and possible pandemics, but also to remain open to the territory, from taking charge of patients to subsequent care. Questions to which we work to provide timely answers, also through moments like this'.
At the open meeting, in fact, over 40 thematic workshops are already scheduled, aimed at involving health sector professionals with different skills and backgrounds, large companies in the pharma and biotech sectors, general managers of public and private health companies. All ready to work in synergy for two consecutive days, guided by the ambassadors, the top managers of health who promote a circular perspective: 'We must always go - specifies Petralia - from the idea to the concrete fallout on the activity of the major hospitals'.
In this sense, in introducing the objectives of the near future, the results collected in the past two editions have been highlighted and have concerned - among the many topics covered - the creation of an environment favorable to research, the digitalization of major hospitals, skills and internal communication, policies implemented for gender medicine, the approach to rare diseases, surgery and robotics.
Themes that will be the subject of further study at the Open Meeting 2024, with the aim of developing strategies even more adherent to the new needs of public and private health.
