Three Soccer Players Charged After Brawl at Local Match in Caserta

The State Police of Caserta have reported three footballers involved in the brawl that occurred at the end of the First Category match between San Nicola Calcio 2009 and Academy San Nicola, played on February 17, 2024, in Recale. The investigative activity, carried out by the Fan Squad, a specialized sector of the Digos of the Caserta Police Headquarters, focused on reconstructing the events, through the acquisition of match reports written by the referee, the field commissioner, and the technical body of the Italian Referees Association, as well as the reports from the 118 emergency service and the Marcianise hospital. From what emerged, the brawl broke out at the end of the match, following the threatening behavior of one of the players from Academy San Nicola towards the opponents and the audience. In the melee, one of the members of San Nicola Calcio 2009, present on the occasion as a sideline assistant with line judge duties, even used the flagpole, causing injuries. The three players identified among the participants in the clashes on the field, have been reported for the crime of aggravated brawl, and in one case, for aggravated injuries. An administrative procedure aimed at imposing the preventive measure of the ban from accessing places where sports events take place, better known as daspo, has been initiated against them.
