Torchlight Procession for Peace Scheduled for March 24, 2024

A Torchlight Procession for Peace is scheduled for Sunday, March 24, 2024, in memory of all war victims, organized by the parish of San Demetrio Martire, in collaboration with Migrants without Borders, the Galahad Social Cooperative, Avant Garde Sport, and Aics, at the Dopolavoro Ferroviario in via Dalmazia, Salerno. The initiative aims to commemorate all war victims, without any distinction, praying for peace. "We remember in silence all the thousands of victims caused by the terrible conflicts in Ukraine and the Holy Land, praying to the Lord that - as Pope Francis said - the cry of pain of the civilian populations may touch the hearts of the leaders of Nations and arouse plans for Peace. With war, no one wins, but everyone is defeated," observed the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno, Andrea Bellandi, who will preside over the Torchlight Procession on Sunday. The gathering is scheduled for 6 p.m. on March 24, at the Dopolavoro Ferroviario in via Dalmazia. Thus, between prayers and reflections, the symbolic torchlight procession will reach the Church of San Demetrio Martire, where, at 7 p.m., the parish priest Don Rosario Petrone, will celebrate the Holy Mass for peace, in memory of all war victims.
