Tragedy Strikes at Portici-Ercolano Train Station

Another tragedy on the tracks of the Portici-Ercolano railway station. This morning around 6:00 AM, a Frecciarossa train passing through the aforementioned station struck a person present on the tracks. The investigations by the judicial authority are still ongoing. Only in the late morning did circulation return to normal after the checks and securing by the competent authorities. The high-speed and metropolitan trains, due to this event, have suffered cancellations and route limitations. On the matter, the president of Assoutenti Campania, Roberto Capasso, states: "We ask for greater security with the installation of turnstiles for access to the station. It has been learned that some people regularly use the tracks as a shortcut to reach the port adjacent to the station, this is unacceptable. Finally, there has also been a long-standing request for the reopening of the ticket office also as a security outpost."
