Three businessmen have been charged and five workers found without proper contracts, following inspections on construction sites carried out by the Carabinieri in Grazzanise, Caserta. The Carabinieri of the Labor Inspectorate Nucleus of Caserta and the technical staff of the Territorial Labor Inspectorate also took part in the operation.
Three construction sites were targeted, each of which showed irregularities; one of the three was also seized. In the first site, the legal representative of the company was charged for not having drawn up the safety operational plan and because, during the inspection, it was found that the site was not equipped with a fence suitable to prevent access to strangers.
In the second site, the sole administrator was charged due to violations such as failure to anchor the scaffolding, absence of the required railings in the scaffolds. The officers also found that the businessman had not subjected his employees to a medical examination and had not provided them with sufficient training in health and safety.
In the last site, the businessman was charged for not having adopted suitable measures to eliminate or minimize electrical risks related to work and for not having drawn up a safety plan. During the inspection, it was found that the site was not equipped with a fence suitable to prevent access to strangers and that there were no suitable scaffolds or scaffolding to eliminate the dangers of falling people and things.
During the operations, 5 people were also found to be irregularly employed and fines totaling 24,700 euros were issued.
