Unrest in Avellino's Prisons: Inmates Clash with Guards

There is no peace in the prisons of the province of Avellino. Cells have been wrecked in the Ariano Irpino district prison. Some inmates from the second section, designated for those who are protagonists of events that disturb the order and security of the institution, attempted to prevent a routine search by threatening the penitentiary police staff with glass and other rudimentary tools intended to offend, and by barricading themselves in their own cells. The inmates were taken to the security rooms where, not satisfied with the disorders already caused, by reiterating their own conduct they also destroyed these last detention rooms. Meanwhile, the search continued and a mobile phone was found, while the involved inmates were immediately transferred, says Stefano Sorice, local secretary of Uilpa penitentiary police Ariano Irpino.
