Viticulture and Development Conference

On Saturday, 6 April 2024, at 10:30 AM, the conference titled “Viticulture and Development” will be held in the Ostrichina Hall of the Vanvitelliano Park of Fusaro in Bacoli (NA). It will present two reports on the historical oenological value of the white berry grapes of the Phlegraean Fields, as well as on the enhancement of the Phlegraean and Ischia wines. The proceedings, which will be greeted by the mayor of the Municipality of Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, will be introduced by Michele Farro, President of the Consortium for the Protection of the Wines of the Phlegraean Fields and Ischia, and by Andrea D’Ambra, responsible for the island of Ischia for the Consortium. The reports by Sergio Romano, agronomist and oenologist, will shed light on the historical research for the definition of the white berry grape cultivated in the Phlegraean Fields, and will focus on the viticultural and oenological strategies to be implemented for the enhancement of the Phlegraean and Ischian wines. This will be followed by a round table, moderated by Dr. Claudio Ciotola, President of the Campania Press Association - Phlegraean Journalists, with speeches by the speakers: Daniele Maramma, professor of Administrative Law of Food and Agroecology at the University of Naples Federico II; Salvatore Loffredo, Director of Coldiretti Campania; Roberta Cafiero, Manager of the Certified Quality and Protection of Geographical Indications Office for Agricultural and Food Products and Wines; Salvatore Schiavone, Commanding Officer of Icqrf, Southern Italy; and Felice Assenza, Head of the Icqrf Department. The conclusions will be entrusted to Nicola Caputo, regional councilor for Agriculture of the Campania Region, and to the honorable Marco Cerreto, group leader of the Agriculture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies. At the end of the meeting, a tasting of the wines from the Consortium for the Protection of the Wines of the Phlegraean Fields and Ischia will be offered, curated by the master Pasquale Brillante of Amira Campania, Naples section, paired with appetizers prepared by chef Cristiano Oliviero of the Dejavù restaurant in Pozzuoli.
