Water Supply Blackout Averted: Weekend Crisis Postponed Indefinitely

The water blackout initially expected over the weekend will not occur. The postponement of the "paralysis" of the service, and consequently the related and inevitable inconveniences it would have caused in the capital and other centers involved, is due to the delay of the planned interventions at the Rfi high-speed train construction site. As communicated by Gesesa, in fact, at around 2:40 p.m. today, a note arrived from the Campania Region, advising that the works scheduled for the 15th, 16th, and 17th of March at the Rfi high-speed train construction site, which would have caused the water interruption in Benevento and other municipalities involved, are postponed to a date to be determined. "Due to the heavy rains of these days - this is the reason behind the decision -, confirmed by the weather alerts for hydrogeological risk issued by the Campania Region (notice 20/2024), as well as due to the characteristics of the intervention sites that present poorly draining soils, the conditions, both technical and safety, to proceed with the diversion of the pipeline and with all the further activities that Rfi would have implemented to resolve the interferences in question, as widely agreed, are no longer present." Gesesa, in light of the communications received, has also released photos showing the current state of the involved sites. Therefore, there will no longer be any water interruption next weekend.
