The Trianon Viviani presents events for the weekend, featuring a lineup of three appointments. The first, on March 22nd at 9:00 PM with «You Want to be an American», the theater and music show by Marcello Cirillo and Demo Morselli dedicated to the courage and sacrifice of Italian emigrants. On Saturday, March 23rd, also at 9:00 PM, the singer-songwriter Flo in «The Song I Owe You in Music» shares her adolescence in Naples and beyond. Finally, on Sunday, March 24th, at 8:00 PM, Lino Cannavacciuolo is in concert with «Via Napoli», a journey through five centuries of Neapolitan music.
Marcello Cirillo and Demo Morselli and his orchestra bring to the stage at Trianon Viviani, in its national premiere, «You Want to be an American. Italian Stories in America», Friday, March 22nd, at 9:00. This theatrical work by Massimo Cinque plays with a title by Carosone to tell the stories of the American dream of Italian emigrants in the twentieth century, with the direction and vocal interpretations by Cirillo, under the musical direction of Morselli. About 40 million Italians, with cardboard suitcases and lots of hope, dreamed of making a fortune in America from the early twentieth century to the '60s.
Many of them or their children became relevant figures (Madonna, Sinatra, DeNiro, Scorsese, Mancini, Capra), realizing their dream: the “American dream”. With the participation of actress Francesca Borrelli - explain Cirillo and Morselli - «we tell a fairy tale with its happy ending, populated by human characters, accompanied by a dog and a seagull and marked by nostalgia for their homeland, the hope for a better life, and the encounter with new cultures and traditions». An emotional musical tale that unfolds between classics like Torna a Surriento, ‘O sole mio, ‘O surdato ‘nnammurato, and Santa Lucia luntana, or Caruso by Dalla.
Flo returns to Trianon Viviani, Saturday, March 23rd, at 9:00, with the new recital «The Song I Owe You in Music. A Tale of Pages and Songs». The singer-songwriter recounts the adventurous, light, and melancholic time of adolescence, with the gallery of characters and situations that gave life to her homonymous novel. Flo thus accompanies the audience on a small journey of growth that, starting from the Naples of Maradona and smuggling, reaches the Biennale, from Paris to Mexico City. Accompanying Flo are guitarists Ernesto Nobili and Federico Luongo, Francesco di Cristofaro on flutes, accordion and baglamas, and cellist Arcangelo Michele Caso.
«Via Napoli» is the journey of Lino Cannavacciuolo through five centuries of Neapolitan music, at Trianon Viviani on Sunday, March 24th, at 8:00. Special guest of the evening is singer Elena Ledda. «This concert - explains the violinist - is my act of love and gratitude towards a great artistic heritage». Thus, the program unfolds from Orlando di Lasso, Domenico Scarlatti, and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi to Pino Daniele and the Osanna, passing through Raffaele Viviani and Roberto De Simone.
