Woman Arrested for Smuggling Drugs into Prison Using Intimate Parts

A woman was arrested in the Avellino prison for bringing drugs to her detained son, hiding them in her intimate parts. The mother of an inmate was handcuffed by the Penitentiary Police on duty at the district house of the Irpinian capital. The lady was stopped in the visiting room, during a search. She had aroused suspicions, which were then confirmed. Tiziana Guacci, secretary for the Campania region of the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union, explains: "The woman, who was about to have a meeting with her detained son, was hiding a significant quantity of hashish in her intimate parts. Thanks to the checks carried out by the men of the Penitentiary Police, the woman was discovered and associated with the Irpinian district house." For Donato Capece, general secretary of the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union, "the problem of drug entry into prison is now an increasingly frequent issue, due to the many drug addicts confined in Italian facilities. From the data we have, we know that almost 30% of the people, Italian and foreign, detained in Italy, that is one in three, has drug problems."
