Woman Escapes Domestic Abuse and Seeks Help in the Dead of Night

Beaten by her partner and kicked out of the house in the heart of the night, she sought help from a young couple passing by in their car on the National Appian Way, in the municipality of Maddaloni. It was just past midnight when the 29-year-old Nigerian woman, in tears and with her young child in her arms, still shaken and trembling, asked for help from the young couple who immediately dialed the emergency number 112, contacting the carabinieri of the operational center of the Maddaloni company. The military's intervention was immediate, and upon arrival, they found the woman with the child and the young couple still trying to provide her with assistance. The woman, who also had her suitcases with her, hastily packed to escape from her aggressor who had violently kicked her out of the house, was taken to the barracks where she was met by medical personnel for the necessary treatment. Having recovered from the shock, she reported that late in the evening, in the presence of her six-year-old son, she had been beaten with kicks and slaps by her cohabiting partner and that it was not the first time it had happened. The fights, sparked by trivial reasons as she reported, had occurred on several occasions over the last two years, and on one occasion, she had needed the intervention of the emergency services for severe back pain resulting from the man's violent beatings. Immediately after the formalization of the complaint, the carabinieri of the Maddaloni station and the local operational and mobile radio unit intervened in the couple's home, finding the man at home, various kitchen utensils destroyed, and some windows shattered. The 33-year-old of Malaysian origin, irregular on national territory, was detained and taken to the barracks, where he was arrested for domestic abuse and continuous assault.
