A maintenance worker died this morning at the Stellantis plant in Pratola Serra, a few kilometers from Avellino. The man, immediately assisted, died during the life-saving maneuvers.
Domenico Fatigati, a 52-year-old from Acerra, was caught in a machine while he was doing maintenance work. He worked for an external company from Foggia.
Investigations are underway by the Carabinieri. The magistrate on duty is at the scene.
The mayor of Pratola Serra, Gerardo Galdo, is saddened by the worker's death and the mayor, upon hearing the news, went to the factory gates.
"It hurts that a family man wakes up in the morning to go to work and then these things happen - says the mayor - it's strange because this is a company that is very, very, very attentive to what happens. But fate is always there in every occasion. Unfortunately, there is no explanation and I don't know how it happened, I don't know the dynamics. In Pratola, as far as I know, there has never been a serious work accident. I came to express my closeness to the family, to all the workers of this company - he concluded - it's something that hurts a lot, I'm really sorry, bitter"
