The Civil Protection of the Campania Region, considering the evaluations of the Functional Center, has issued a yellow weather alert for rain and thunderstorms valid from 8 pm tonight, Friday 23 February, until 8 pm tomorrow, Saturday 24 February.
It is stated in a note that scattered precipitation is expected, also of a shower nature, punctually of moderate intensity. The disturbance will first transit on the northern quadrants of the region where the phenomena will tend to become isolated or local from tomorrow morning and then persist on the central and southern quadrants where they will tend to become isolated only from tomorrow afternoon.
Attention must be paid to the hydrogeological risk: among the main consequences of the impact of precipitation on the ground possible floods are reported, raising of the water levels of the watercourses, water flow in the roadways, run-offs with material transport, falling rocks and landslides. Today, as announced yesterday, the strong wind with gusts and the consequent rough sea with storm surges will continue. Municipalities are reminded to activate the COCs (Municipal Operational Centers) and to implement all measures aimed at preventing, combating and mitigating the expected phenomena, in line with their respective municipal civil protection plans. Pay attention to the communications of the Regional Operational Room.
The progressive worsening of weather conditions in the Gulf of Naples, characterized by strong wind from the South/South East and very rough sea, is causing the suspension of numerous maritime connections for the Neapolitan islands. For some hours now, almost all the hydrofoil races from Molo Beverello and Pozzuoli to Ischia and Procida have been suspended; some connections to Procida have also been cancelled made by the ferry boats.
According to forecasts, sea conditions may further worsen for the afternoon and evening with possible further cancellations of races; it is therefore advisable to inquire about the regularity of maritime services before traveling.
Considering the Yellow weather alert, it has been arranged for tomorrow, Saturday 24 February, the closure of city parks.
