Young Wolf Rescued and Released into the Wild by Wildlife Recovery Center

A young wolf was saved and released by the 'Federico II' Wildlife Recovery Center (Cras in collaboration with the Veterinary Service of the ASL Naples 1 Center. The animal was released into the wild, in an area of the Cilento National Park of Vallo di Diano and Alburni. The male wolf, about 2 years old, had been found by the Carabinieri of the Cilento National Park of Vallo di Diano and Alburni, trapped in a metal snare presumably placed by poachers. Transported by the veterinary services of the Asl of Salerno, alerted by the Carabinieri, to the 'Federico II' Wildlife Recovery Center, with its operational headquarters at the Veterinary Outpost Asl Naples 1 Center, the animal arrived exhausted and in shock due to the long condition of forced immobility, with lacerated contused wounds, presumably caused by the effort made in an attempt to free itself. Here he received specialist care that allowed his complete clinical recovery. After a long rehabilitative journey and the necessary diagnostic investigations, including genetic tests that confirmed his belonging to the wild population, the wolf began to run on his legs again, regaining his freedom.
