Young Worker's Hand Saved from Amputation After Factory Accident

A 29-year-old worker underwent a long and delicate surgical operation that averted the amputation of the limb after being injured yesterday afternoon in her left hand while on duty at a food products company in Piedimonte Matese. In particular, the girl's hand got stuck in a machine, and firefighters had to intervene to free her. The 29-year-old was then urgently taken by the 118 emergency service to the hospital in Piedimonte, where she was found to have significant bone fractures and tendon injuries; wounds that necessitated the operation, carried out by doctors Gabriele Scaravilli and Roberto Rossi with the team of operating room nurses and the radiology technician. After an initial synthesis of the fractures of the fingers, the tendinous planes, and after the evaluation of the execution of skin plastics on the fingers themselves, the patient was able to avoid the amputation of the hand. Meanwhile, investigations by the Carabinieri of Piedimonte on the incident continue; the Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere has opened an inquiry, and the results of the technical examinations carried out on the machinery, which has been seized, are awaited.
