An assault occurred in the prison of Ariano Irpino. A chief superintendent of the penitentiary police was slapped and punched by an inmate who also destroyed a computer in the infirmary department. The incident happened this morning.

The officer was taken to the hospital. Colleagues came to the aid of the assaulted officer and with some difficulty managed to restrain the attacker. This individual had previously demonstrated aggressive behavior and had threatened officers. An immediate transfer has been requested for him. The news was disclosed by the unions Uilpa and Sappe.

«We have sent a note to the Prap Campania, to urge preventive action to ensure safety within the Ariano Irpino penitentiary and to request prompt transfer of rowdy inmates even outside the region», says Stefano Sorice, local secretary of Uilpa. For Tiziana Guacci, regional secretary of Sappe, however, «resolutive actions that put an end to such violent actions can no longer be postponed».
