"We have submitted a formal request to ask that the current exit from the A3 Napoli-Pompei-Salerno highway 'branch 268' finally become the Sant'Antonio Abate exit." This was stated by Ilaria Abagnale, mayor of Sant'Antonio Abate, who met with the leaders of the company 'Salerno Pompei Napoli S.p.A.' that manages the A3 highway, in the presence of regional councilor Luca Cascone, president of the IV Commission (Urban Planning, Public Works, Transport) of the Campania Region. "The 'branch 268' exit is on the territory of Sant'Antonio Abate - explains Ilaria Abagnale - for this reason we have officially asked the company that manages the A3 highway to modify the existing signage, also in view of the fact that all other previous and subsequent exits, such as Scafati and Angri, bear the name of the municipalities in which they are located." Currently, the sign posted at the junction between the A3 Napoli-Salerno highway and the state road 268, with direct access to the municipality of Sant'Antonio Abate, bears the generic term 'branch 268', despite being a direct exit for the M3 bypass that enters Abate territory. "Such a name - explains Ilaria Abagnale - can confuse road users heading to Sant'Antonio Abate and neighboring municipalities. For this reason, we believe it is appropriate, for the citizens of Abate and all motorists and truck drivers who travel the A3 highway every day, that the sign bears the words 'Sant'Antonio Abate', in order to provide travelers with useful and accurate information about the route to follow. I cannot explain why those who preceded me did not think to include the term Sant'Antonio Abate, which may seem like a detail, but which is essential, since the exit leads directly into the Abate industrial area and a possible error in choosing the exit by heavy vehicle drivers can cause problems for urban traffic that also affect neighboring municipalities." "At the end of the works financed by the Campania Region, and involving citizens and entrepreneurs in the area, we asked for a meeting. On the part of the company, I found a willingness to listen to our request, for which we are certain there may be a positive outcome in the short term. For this reason - concludes Ilaria Abagnale - I want to thank for the interest the regional councilor Luca Cascone, always ready and willing to listen and solve the problems that come from the territory."
