Two women residing in the province of Caserta, aged 20 and 42, have been reported by the Catania police for being responsible for a fraud against a young motorist from the province of Ragusa who was to sign a civil liability insurance policy for his car. The two women have previous convictions for similar crimes. The investigation was triggered by a complaint filed by the victim against unknown persons. The victim had entered his data on an Internet search engine specialized in insurance policies to find the most advantageous offer and within a few minutes was contacted by phone by a supposed agent of a well-known insurance company who offered him the insurance policy for 288 euros. The victim immediately gave his consent and made a transfer to the IBAN provided to him but never received the contract, the insurance policy, or a payment receipt. Moreover, there was no response from the mobile phone number from which he had been contacted. From the legal headquarters of the insurance company, the victim also learned that no policy had ever been signed and that the IBAN used to make the transfer was not linked to that insurance agency.
