On Sunday afternoon, officers from the Vicaria-Mercato police station, during a territory control service, intervened at the intersection of Umberto I and Vico Grande following a report received by the operational room of a person being mugged. The officers, who arrived promptly at the scene, were approached by the victim who recounted that, just before, while she was walking down the same street, she had noticed she was being followed by a man on a scooter with a disguised face, who, in a lightning-fast gesture, snatched her bag, containing documents, credit card and personal effects, and then disappeared in the direction of Vico Grande. The complex and detailed investigation carried out by the Mobile Squad allowed to ascertain that the suspect had made some transactions with the woman's credit card at some shops; consequently, the analysis of the images extracted from the surveillance systems allowed the investigators to identify and subsequently locate the suspect on Monday afternoon, in via dei Tribunali, where he immediately appeared restless at the time of the control. The officers also found the motorcycle used by the suspect; therefore, the latter, a 43-year-old Neapolitan with a police record, also specific, as he is strongly suspected of snatch theft, was subjected to a P.G. stop and consequently arrested.
