The latest, in his interview with the newspaper La Repubblica, is that Emma Bonino would have preferred me to Professor Cottarelli. When Calenda is not slandering people, as he did with me by shamefully associating me with the culture of the mafia and getting sued for it, for which I hope he renounces parliamentary immunity, he makes, as in this case, crude political nonsense. Where would be and from where would derive the incompatibility, political, electoral, or human, between me and Professor Cottarelli? Obviously, it does not exist. Nor does the moral superiority that Calenda claims for himself, self-attributing a non-existent purity. So says the mayor of Benevento, Clemente Mastella, about the leader of Azione, Calenda. 'It is understandable,' continues the former Guardasigilli, 'that Calenda needs Greco-Roman wrestling to get out of the political-media corner, but he cannot make us believe it. He is a master of transformation: elected in the Pd, he then left it and in August 2022 was able to break a political pact he had signed shortly before.
