The municipal council, chaired by Mayor Clemente Mastella, has given the green light this morning to the naming of the Pala Ferrara in memory of the late Carlo La Peccerella. The sports facility on via Nuzzolo is now named Pala Ferrara La Peccerella. "Carlo La Peccerella has been and remains a symbol of handball in Benevento, a manager known nationally - recalls Mayor Mastella - he represented the sports reality of Benevento at various levels, first as a player and then, in the period 2011-2023, as president, Carlo La Peccerella experienced the most important moments of the Benevento movement with the club's participation in the top men's championship, successes at the youth level, and the organization, in 2020, of a qualifying round for the Men's World Championships." "His commitment to the territory - reiterates the mayor - led him to hold federal positions, both as head of Area 7 (Lazio-Campania) and as president of the Regional Committee of the Italian Handball Federation Campania. The tribute to this icon of one of the city's most loved sports, whose premature death caused deep commotion in the city, was just and proper."
