This afternoon, the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, and the Sports Councilor, Emanuela Ferrante, together with the president of the Sports Commission, Gennaro Esposito, met in the Sala Giunta of Palazzo San Giacomo with the Napoli Futsal 5-a-side football team, which last Sunday won the Italian Futsal Serie A Cup for the first time in its history. The blue team of 5-a-side football, founded in 2013 in Fuorigrotta, defeated Roma 6-3 in the final at the Palaercole in Policoro, in the province of Potenza. The President and the directors, the coach, and the players will be awarded with a commemorative plaque and the medals of the city of Naples. "Napoli Futsal is a sign of a winning Naples in sports, but not only - said Mayor Manfredi. We want Napoli Futsal to return to playing in the city. We will work with the team to make this happen soon, perhaps finding a temporary solution while waiting for a permanent one. We will create the conditions for 5-a-side football to return to Naples physically, because in terms of name, heart, and soul, it is always here in Naples." "Neapolitan sport - emphasized Councilor Ferrante - is making itself known nationally, not only for football but also for other so-called minor disciplines, which are not minor because they carry those values of commitment and sociability that we intend to promote. Thanks to important results like the Italian 5-a-side football Cup, we are increasingly deserving the title of European Capital of Sport 2026." "Napoli Futsal is a neighborhood project that started in 2013. We have won the Serie B championships, Serie A2, and now we have fulfilled a dream: we have won the Italian Cup and made history - commented the club president, Serafino Perugino. Unfortunately, we are forced to migrate, we have played in Cercola and then in Aversa, which is an ideal stage, but my hope is to finally be able to play at home, in Naples, with our fans."
