By the end of 2024, the Caserta Hospital of the Vanvitelli University will host academic activities of teaching and research. This was revealed during the meeting held today between the Rector of Vanvitelli University, Gianfranco Nicoletti, the Public Works Commissioner, Placido Migliorino, the head of the Pnrr intervention implementation office and hospital construction, Roberta Santaniello, the company Sorgente Srl, and the workforce. "Today we have the opportunity to schedule the start of the teaching and research activities that will be hosted in the Caserta Hospital," said Nicoletti, "and this date is the end of this year. Soon we will also be able to indicate the completion of the works dedicated to assistance, but I do not want to anticipate anything. This is possible today also thanks to the procurement of an additional 42 million euros that have been included in the regional construction plan and for which we thank the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, who in this way guarantees the completion of the work." The Caserta Hospital of the Vanvitelli University spans an area of 250,000 square meters and will eventually host about 350 beds and a student population of about 5,000 people. The block reserved for assistance will be divided into 5 independent buildings, interconnected by a single transversal element of connection; it will cover a total area of 68,500 square meters and will host an access square to the Emergency Department with a helipad. The buildings designated for teaching and research will develop over a total area of about 60,000 square meters. Conceived not only as a place of care but also as an educational and university center with high environmental comfort and tailored to students and patients, the designers, in line with the guiding principles of the "human hospital," were inspired by an idea of architecture that reconciles with nature. In this perspective, about 19,000 square meters of public squares and about 40,000 square meters of parks and gardens have been planned.
