The Civil Protection of the Campania Region, based on the evaluations of the Functional Center, has issued a Yellow weather alert for rain and storms, valid from 3 PM today until 6 AM tomorrow morning along the coastal stretch from the Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula to Cilento. In detail, the alert concerns the following areas: 3 (Sorrento-Amalfi Peninsula, Sarno Mountains, and Picentini Mountains), 5 (Tusciano and Upper Sele), 6 (Sele Plain and Upper Cilento), 7 (Tanagro), 8 (Lower Cilento). The storm phenomena will be characterized by forecast uncertainty and rapid evolution, and could therefore be sudden and prove intense. The possibility of lightning, hail, and gusts of wind is also predicted. Attention must be paid to the hydrogeological risk: among the main consequences of the impact on the ground of the rains and storms are possible flooding, rising water levels of watercourses, water flowing on roadways, runoff with material transport, rockfalls, and landslides. Due to possible hail and gusts of wind, damage to temporary structures, public green areas, and coverings may also occur. Municipalities are reminded to activate the Municipal Operational Centers (COC) and to implement all measures aimed at preventing, combating, and mitigating the forecast phenomena, in line with their respective municipal civil protection plans, and to monitor the proper maintenance of public green areas.
